Booth / Nieuwenhui win Aruba catamaran regatta 2008

n Friday November 21 2008, Mitch Booth and Pim Nieuwenhuis (NED) officially won the Aruba Heineken Catamaran Regatta for the second time. They were already secured of this year’s victory, but they still came out for the last race and took the bullet in style. Mischa Heemskerk and Eduard Zanen (NED) took it easy and capsized in a moment of not paying attention.

illiam Sunnucks and Simon Farren (GBR) climbed into third position overall on the fifth day of the Aruba Heineken Catamaran Regatta. Two out of three scheduled races were sailed, as a heavy tropical rain shower came with poor visibility in the morning.

he skipper of the first Russian boat to enter the Rolex Sydney Hobart in almost 20 years is now racing the clock in Auckland, New Zealand, to have a new keel built after large cracks in the existing keel were discovered earlier this week.

t was a concentration game on the fourth day of the Aruba Heineken Catamaran Regatta. The light and variable breeze caused big gains and losses on the course. The sailors had to be very cautious, as the tactics changed all the time.

he Cape Doctor welcomed Belgium sailor Michel Kleinjans to South Africa as he stormed across the finish line to win the single-handed division of the Portimão Global Ocean Race. The Cape Doctor is the name given by locals to the gale force winds that blow down the backside of Table Mountain taking with it all germs and pollution and flinging them far out to sea.
