Stuart Alexander, The Independent:
“It was one of those ‘cut through the hype’ remarks, delivered in true, matter of fact, Anglo-Saxon style. He will not want to be described as such, but the Anglo-Saxon in question was Brad Butterworth and what he said was: “the fastest boat will win the America’s Cup.” The speed difference may have been only slight, perhaps barely measurable, but the speed came with what is known in sailing as height; that is the ability to sail a little closer to the wind without paying a catastrophic price. The ability of Alinghi to nail the opposition when it counted was what settled AC32 and that calm demonstration of power was mighty impressive.”
