The Seychelles Regatta is an exclusive semi-professional competition bringing together twenty companies that will sail along the magnificent sites of the Seychelles islands during eight days. The fleet will consist of 36’ to 57’ catamarans and crews of 6 to 8 people, mainly from Belgium, France and Great Britain. Benefiting from some of the world’s best fishing spots, this year’s competition will also include a deep sea fishing competition aside the sailing races.
Set in a fantastic environment, the Seychelles Regatta is a unique opportunity for teambuilding and incentive. The Seychelles offer a unique course amongst its 115 granite and coral islands. Each company can invite along its managers, clients, executives, associates and employees and enjoy a week prone to friendly exchanges that could lead to future collaborations between the participating companies.
The competition will be spiced up by the participation onboard some boats of big names in sailing. Michel Desjoyeaux, Vendée Globe 2000/2001 and The Transat 2004 winner amongst many other races, has already registered for the annual event that he wouldn’t miss for the world! Other famous sailors, such as Roland Jourdain (better known as Bilou), Sébastien Col and Yann Eliès have let the organisers know that they’re interested in participating in this year’s Seychelles Regatta. Some of these skippers will have just returned from the Vendée Globe and will be looking forward to get back to the competition in a playful and sunny manner after their winter solo round the world race.
The Blue Ocean Events’ press office will be targeting international media to promote the Seychelles in the main European media as well as South African press.
The Seychelles Regatta 2009 will take place from the 15th to the 24th May, time when the weather is any sailor’s friend providing wind and sunshine without mentioning the typically warm welcome from the people of the Seychelles!
